Fiolstraede and Torvehallerne Food Hall

The Fiolstraede is a Stroget, a walking street.  Only pedestrians occupy.  There are numerous shops and restaurants along these walking streets.

We went to a laundry, Montvask in Danish.  One week of traveling and it was time to refresh a few items of clothing.  This was an adventure.  We had to get change for the machines of course then figure out what the machines said.  You'd pay in one machine and have to push a button to activate the correct machine you were wanting to use.  A funny story was with the dryer called Tumblr in Danish.  It was 2 Kroner for 2 minutes.  However, you didn't just put in 30 Kroner and the machine automatically gave you 30 minutes.  When we did that, we ran the dryer and it stopped after 2 minutes and 28 Kroner spit back out at us.  We realized each time you put in 2 Kroner you pushed the button for the that particular dryer you were using so we put the rest of the Kroner in the machine and pushed the button 14 times.

Torvehallerne on Frederiksborggade is a daily Indoor/Outdoor Farmer's Market of sorts. It reminds me of the San Francisco Ferry Building Marketplace.  So many stalls with yummy cook to order treats, meats, cheeses, coffees and pastries as well as plants and flowers and fresh produce.  The herbs are prolific here! They have large leaves and are very green.  The fish stalls were hilarious.  Take a look...

We found lunch!
Famous Smorrebrod, open faced sandwich.  Mine was salmon and Jon's was fried mackerel with capers.  Both had a mayonnaise sauce.
The family bikes were so interesting.  A cab was affixed to the handlebars and rode in front so you were pushing instead of pulling your precious cargo.  The bikes also had an interesting locking mechanism.  With all the bikes parked I never noticed chains.  The backtire locks and unlocks via a key.  The backtire locks to the frame and won't move so you can neither remove the frame from the tire or ride off with the bike. Clever!  #nobikechains #thesimplelife
